Bryan Jezeph Consultancy has successfully negotiated a resolution of planning permission from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. Members supported the scheme for a new building to accommodate a 51 bed care home with high quality nursing for elderly persons suffering from severe problems of dementia. The scheme provides a use for the existing Listed Building, known as Daneshill Court, which has been empty for some years and has suffered from vandalism. The Listed Building is to be restored to provide specialist accommodation with 8 bedrooms for Adults with Learning Disabilities plus a Training Centre. The Listed Building is attributed to the practice of Edwin Lutyens.
The successful outcome of the proposal involved the co-ordination of a team of Consultants advising on the needs of the patients, transport and parking, the Listed Building, landscaping treatment and various legal issues. The architect has produced a design which has met all the difficult constraints of the site.
The Committee acknowledged that the proposal will provide a valuable facility for the residents of Basingstoke in the care of such vulnerable people.
