Site of Dolman Hall Old Road Gosport
A striking contemporary design for a development of 5 flats on the waterfront at Gosport was won on appeal in 2009. Caroline addressed 8 reasons for refusal covering a range of planning issues including flood risk, contamination, the construction of a new sea wall, and design issues relating to character, neighbourliness and the alleged impact of height and mass of the proposed building. The reasons for refusal were addressed by a coordinated approach employing technical expertise set out in reports and the use of unilateral undertakings for matters that could not be covered by planning conditions. The building design was the creation of architect Edward Caush who sought a nautical style for this demanding waterfront location. The building will be an interesting and attractive contribution to the site of the former Dolman Hall.
